Seeing as I live in Florida, I like coming home and sit on my patio and listen to the rain for a bit with my dog (it’s usually raining during the summer). And if it’s too hot, I’ll probably just watch some TV, maybe pop in a season of Curb Your Enthusiasm or something.
Lately, George Dickel No. 12. But I don’t recommend that as a long term strategy.
Last night I took the kids to the pool and hung out with some friends.
I’ve been known to unwind with a video game, but it’s hard for me to find something I really enjoy. I’m more likely to fire up something from the Wii Virtual Console or Pop Cap Games than what most people think of as video games in 2010. Plants vs. Zombies is pretty much my favorite game of the past decade or so.
I also enjoy reading. I’m working my way through the Rosenfeld Media library right now. Stuff like that gets me excited again and reminds me why I got into this industry, even after a trying day.
There are many, many ways I relax. A smoke, a beer and some music always do the trick. Sometimes just the music itself clears my head, I grab my iPod, lay in bed and just listen to some good tunes with my mind on blank.
Working out at the gym is another good way to relax, and I come back fully reloaded of energy and ready to start working again.
Mainly, any activity that is not related to computers or screens gets me relaxed.
#1 – travel. If I have a weekend –A full weekend, no emergency calls, no “must get this done by monday”–, I’m not going to be in town. I’ll drive anywhere, so long as it’s not at home thinking about work. If I am stuck at home, then it used to be reading. Lately, I’ve spent a lot more video games. I’m currently rebuilding my reading habit (goodreads.com is amazing!), and am much more relaxed for it.
In my case the basket ball game on saturday morning with some friends and soon we will do some mountain bike rides too (we’re in the process of buying the bikes) aldo just walk and see the beautifull cloudy skies of this days here in Santa Tecla, when I had the time going to the mountains and make some birds photographs, going to the movies on friday nights is relaxing too and during the day playing with the dog helps me clear the mind a bit and refresh the ideas.
Laying on the beach covered in sand with waves rushing up to touch my feet, while I contemplate the meaning of the universe. Yep, that’s exactly how I relax ;P
Actually, a good beer and a movie is enough for me.
Well there are some great beaches where I live. I could actually do that. However I am too busy to relax. Also, some lifeguard might think I’ve washed up on shore and dying.

Do you live on the coast?
No I used to live in Tampa, then in Orlando when I was in college, now I’m halfway between in Lakeland.

Well, most of the time me and my fiancé head out to the Cape Town Winelands, but otherwise we go explore all the restaurants and have some good wine, company and food

“spent a lot more video games.” >_<
See what not reading enough does to your brain? Why can't I edit my posts to correct this travesty?
