So as most of you guys know, I got an iPad Wednesday! While I originally thought it was just a giant iPhone, I was wrong. I’m able to view HD streaming video, control the desktop of both my Windows and Macs, and even code on it! Plus, I actually read the feeds I follow now thanks to the beautiful “Early Edition” app.

Anyways, I’ve noticed that Apple has slowly, but steadily, been reducing the amount of accessories that comes with any product.

First I noticed that they no longer included monitor adaptors with new Macs and you had to pay $20 for each one separately.

Then I noticed they stop shipping iPods and iPhones with power adapters for the wall.

Now, they’ve shipped iPads without the normal cleaning cloth (and you actually need it on this product) AND headphones.

I have a feeling the iPod cables are next…and perhaps then the product itself will go missing. Anyone fancy buying an empty iMac box for $1500?

Photo is my game of Plants vs Zombies in HD on the iPad. Addicting!

Apple is no dummy, they will make a profit from even the tiniest accessories. One of the first things I notice about the iPad when i first heard of it was that it had no camera, so I thought “That’s cheap”, then my friend said, “These guys aren’t idiots, they’ll probably sell it as an accessory”… they probably will.

    • I agree. Thankfully their products are awesome. I love the iPad and I originally thought the idea was stupid. As a matter of fact I’m typing this comment on it now ;) but seriously with the full size keyboard, I’m almost able to type as well as a regular computer and even write full posts on it.

    • Except for the fact they make the best, most innovative and reliable products out there….

      • I wouldn’t say they are the best.

        They are not innovative.

        They are reliable.

Apple is doomed to fail because they have short term market strategies to make money. To use 1 apple product you have to buy 6^2313123 other products. They try to change computing standards to make themselves more money. You can’t even connect iphones/ipads without having itunes.

If you like the OS use ubuntu, its a factor of infinity cheaper

        • They are innovative. Look at all the copycats

Win7 is a copycat of OSX
          Android of iPhone
Now there are several other companies copycatings the iPad

You don’t need several different products to use any of their products. You only have to buy something if you want the pretty crap.

iTunes is a free program, so it’s not like they’re making you purchase a $200 copy of some software to be able to use the iPhone/iPod

Hell, if you want to look at it from a different perspective, you have to purchase a copy of Windows to be able to use that copy of Office you bought.
