Hi, I have seen you mention using billings 3 for invoicing (in fact I found your blog following your mention on their blog). I think the software is great for tracking invoices and in turn company income. I would however like to know if you use any paticular software packages to tracking expenditure and how do you make use of the software to get the most out of it…itemised expenditure tracking for tax purposes etc…I’ve had a look at some paperless office solutions but not found any that seemed up to the task.

I think it would be great to read your views on maximizing residuals from existing clients. What the best methods are when packaging support plans and how to properly charge for updates and maintenance for the typical client.

    • LOL support plans? What are those? :P

All of my clients are web agencies/freelancers so there really isn’t a need for residual sales like there would be for normal clients, I just provide great service and they come back to me when they get new projects :)

  3. It would be great to see some interviews here :) .

ALTHOUGH – personally I’m fed up with interview with all the big names in the industry. We all know them, we know what they do, and seeing yet another interview with them, especially with almost the same question – is something I really could live without.

Instead, I would love to see some interviews with developers and designers (or creatives in general) who may not be very well known, but are talented and/or have interesting personalities. I realize finding them is both harder and time consuming, but hey, I think it’s worth it.

    • Do you have anyone in mind? I was thinking of interview Finch from getfinch.com

      • You could get Finch :) That would be cool :)
Also, why not do web based interviews with peers as well? You could start with Nikita, if he is up for it ;)

      • Haha, yeah, get Finch ;) . Although, I meant it in general.

For example: a person whose work you came across the other day and liked may be worth interviewing.

Readers won’t be bored with yet another interview with a person everybody in the community knows (from countless interviews with the same boring questions), plus it will bring some exposure to that maybe yet unknown designer/developer, especially if they’re worth it.

At least that’s what I think and would like to see here and everywhere else.

  5. I thought about it when trying to figure out what to write for the guest post yesterday. I think the articles I like the most here, or even written by you in general, are less technical and more opinion oriented. And I think I like to get a little share of your expertise and experience.

  6. I like a lot of your posts. I’ve found myself reading freelance folder posts and saying “who wrote this!?” to find out it was you! This has happened atleast twice now!

Your personal touch makes them worth reading, and your naturally quite an inspiring person whether you know it or not. Keep up the good work!

I like posts about simplicity, minimalism, and clean code and clean design. Would be interesting to see what your take is on any of these subjects!

  7. I love reading how other freelancers market themselves, how do you get new clients?

As someone who has recently launched my freelance career, I’m looking forward to the time when I have regular referral clients calling me, instead of me doing all the chasing ;-)
