3 and 5 is what I do. Number 4 is an option geeks say why do you need a watch, use your phone… Although if you are fashion geek probably get one of those led flashy watches or something that looks nice but don’t have one…

For 2 I sport band t-shirts daily. Today’s Panic at the Disco, yesterday Landmine Marathon, Day Before Napalm Death, Day Before that Jimi Hendrix, Day before that Strike Anywhere, ok well you get the idea… After all I went to to college to study Music, I am self taught in all my computer skills and became a web developer.

@Mike – I think you’re right about the watch/iphone overlap. I like the idea of an LED flashy watch. In the 3rd grade my heart coveted the Panasonic calculator watch. To this day, it still makes my inner nerd swoon.

Illustrated t-shirts are all the rage in the design world, and I’m sure there’s some wicked awesome band illustrations out there. Try threadless.com for some great tees.

Was just waiting to hear that from someone else. Its been proven watch sales fallen because of Cellphones one less thing and now worries about daylight savings time as well. Watches should be getting smarter soon as a cellphone maker did make a cellphone watch don’t know how it was taken as I haven’t seen many with it and their are some caller id watches with fossil and the like. Ya, even more geeky…

  3. Zach says:

Wait a sec, I thought that by wearing these items I was being original?

    Who am I?

    • Daniel Vineyard says:

@Zach – you are who you are, but we all fit into a culture, too. These fashion tips are simply small measures to start the acculturation process into the design community. All communities have their distinct dress guidelines, it’s just a matter of whether or not we want to ‘fit in’.

Besides, originality is somewhat of a cultural myth, in my opinion.

  4. TheAL says:

Hipsters ruined geeky fashion. :’( Fun article, though. I give it four out of five stars (minus one for the iPhone love *hehehe*).

    • Daniel Vineyard says:

@TheAl, I didn’t make the rules, I just point em out so other designers and designer want-to-bes (that’s me) can fit it where they get it.

And I agree about the Hipsters.

  5. I really think you should replace the minimalist watch with its binary counterpart.

LOL…. I usually dress up like that…yeah … I dont have a iPhone and moleskin notebook… actually I’m not kinda notebook person also.
